Psoriasis

Psoriasis (Kitibha) is a chronic skin condition marked by dry, red, raised patches covered with fine silvery scales. These patches can range from small spots to larger, well-defined areas and may cause itching and discomfort. The exact cause is not fully understood in modern medicine, but it is linked to an overactive immune response and genetic factors. Triggers such as stress, cold weather, infections, certain medications, and sudden withdrawal of steroids can worsen the condition. While treatments are available to manage symptoms, there is no confirmed permanent cure in conventional medicine.

In Ayurveda, psoriasis is known as Kitibha and is considered a result of internal imbalance and toxin buildup in the body. Treatment focuses on internal purification, herbal medications, and strict dietary regulation to restore balance and improve skin health. Although a permanent cure may not always be guaranteed, many patients experience noticeable relief within 2 - 3 weeks of treatment, along with longer gaps between flare-ups. With continued medication and proper lifestyle management, Ayurveda aims to provide sustained relief and, in some cases, long-lasting remission.
